Homemade “Eggo” Waffles: Cheaper and Better Ingredients

homemade waffles

I set out on a mission to create a homemade version of store bought frozen waffles. Have you seen the ingredient list on frozen waffles? With the rising cost of food in this country, we all have to find swaps to make our budget so further. I wanted a recipe that’s not only healthier (with ingredients I can actually pronounce!) but also way cheaper. I think you will like this recipe because its made with simple pantry ingredients. They’re fluffy, delicious, and best of all, you can make a big batch to freeze—just like the store-bought ones but way better. I promise, once you try these, you’ll never go back to the box.

Overview:

This homemade waffle recipe is designed to make about 25-30 waffles and freeze what’s left over. I store them in silicone reusable freezer bags. The best part is that reheating is simple: 20-30 seconds in the microwave or put them in the toaster. I make these on Sunday and my kids can make them for breakfast or snacks all week. I use a 4 waffle iron from Dash to make the process faster. I add ground chia and flax seeds to add a little extra nutrition and fiber. You can also add mini chocolate chips to this recipe if that’s what your kids like.
