Hi There!

I’m Misty and welcome to Suburban Homesteading Life! I’m all about breaking the stereotype that homesteading is just for the countryside. I’m here to show you that you can lead a sustainable and simple lifestyle anywhere.

A little bit about me: I’m a wife and stay at home mom who loves a great cup of coffee. I live in the suburbs in Kentucky. I homeschool my kids which has been the absolute best thing for my kids.

Why I Decided To Move To A More Simple Life

After delving into extensive research, I discovered a disheartening truth: much of the food available in the US is riddled with harmful ingredients, designed not to nourish but to keep us sick, all for the sake of profit. Determined to break free from this cycle of illness and dependency, I embarked on a journey towards simplicity. As a suburbanite, I’ve taken to my backyard to cultivate wholesome, homegrown produce for my family, reclaiming control over what we consume.

Embracing whole foods in our cooking has not only bolstered our health but has become a cherished opportunity to impart essential culinary skills to my children. Furthermore, our path to simplicity extends beyond the kitchen; homeschooling has emerged as a cornerstone of our lifestyle, offering a holistic education that nurtures their curiosity and empowers their growth. Through these endeavors, our family thrives, guided by the values of self-sufficiency, health, and learning.
